Savings jackpots June 3

It's June!?!  I am so excited for summer to start.  Stay tuned for my blog entry of the top summer activities in Vegas.  How did I save last week?

-I waxed my brows and facial hair

-A friend gave me some baby clothes that she wasn't needing that will be perfect Amilia this summer.

-Ryan did some work on the master bath.  I finally got the extra duty pay I was waiting for so we decided to get nicer tile that will last longer.  We ordered it from a small business tile company and still got a nice price.

-My birthday was June 1st!!  We had a great time visiting the Mob Museum with friends and were able to get a good ticket price with the local discount.  We had a full house of visitors afterward.  It was so nice to have so many of my dear friends and family gather for food and fun.  We hadn't done something like that in a long time, so it was great.

-I prepared all of the food for my party the night before, making most of it from scratch.  I did purchase pre-made salsa at Costco because it's not much difference in price for what I would pay to make it myself.  I made garlic dip for pretzel sticks, ranch dip for veggies bought at Costco, cut up fruit, made caramel puff corn and vanilla sheet cake.  On the day of the party, I put 2 chicken breasts with a cup of BBQ sauce in the crockpot on low.  When we got home from the museum, I shredded it and made BBQ chicken biscuit pizzas.  They were very tasy!

-I was overwhelmed by unexpected, generous gifts from friends and family.  Gift cards to eat out, nail salon gift certificate, my fave scents from Bath and Body Works, and money.  My gram sent me the Ninja blender/processor set and it is awesome!!  My in-laws got me some of the items I wanted in my Correlle dish pattern and Ryan got me the slicer/grater attachment for my Kitchenaid (no more grating soap by hand!)

-The savings I've made in my budget allowed me to also share with others for thank you gifts for the end of the year and donating money and time to a co-worker who lost her son last week.  I worked at the McDonald's teacher night to raise money for his Memorial fund.

-My surgery is Thursday.  After I recover, I will be in full summer saving mode!!
